Broke Crayons Still Work: Trey Armstrong’s Latest Release

In a world full of imperfections, Charlotte native Trey Armstrong made it a mission to shed light on on his own personal climb through life with his latest drop Broke Crayons Still Color. Though things may not always be easy or perfect,  he found it important to show that with hard work, dedication, and resilience you can go far by just simply believing in yourself. Each song was produced in such a way to grab the attention of the audience yet still tell his story in a way that would be received by his audience.

The inspiration came from Trey seeing people believe that because they don’t fit the image or typical standards that they don’t have what it takes. The hardships lack of perfection are what make you work harder to get closer to your goals to the vision you have for yourself. The tracks discuss topics such as finances , race, police brutality, college, hustling, solutions, hurt, regret, and loneliness. As we all have felt these feelings or experienced these obstacles, it is an album very relatable for many listeners.

“I have always wanted to pursue music just in a different form other than rap, my passion for rap came from my love of poetry and the cleverness of creating a verse that is comprised of different techniques.”
